Acceptance is the key to a real and lasting love, no matter what type of relationship is involved. When you accept others in spite of their imperfections then you show compassion and a sense of emotional maturity. Accepting things that you can not change does not make you less of a person, it strengthens you and makes you a better person instead. Fighting against the things that can not be changed will tire you out and raise your stress levels each day. Acceptance allows you to make peace with yourself, and to see others as they truly are and still care about them in spite of these faults and shortcomings. There will always be circumstances that can not be changed and when you accept these you will find that you are happier and enjoy less stress.
