Most people despise family time in their lives because of issues that have gone on in the past, or the quality of people that make up the household. Family isn't always blood. It's the people in your life who want you in theirs. The ones who accept you for who you are. The ones who would do anything to see you smile, and who love you no matter what. This is why you see so many people surrounding themselves with their own version of family.

Sometimes family is destructive and will cause you to have a worse life. There are households that deal with abuse, drug addictions, infidelity, and many other toxic issues. People struggling in those situations will look to find family that is healthy to have around them, and these people will inherently want the best for you. Even though friends are not your blood you can still depend on them. The best friends that you have will be able to pick you up when you are down, support you, and help you out in your struggles. These people are going to be those that you consider your "New Family", and that is an improvement in your relationships.Blood family is all that you are given at the end of the day, but you do not have to chain yourself to them. Keep your family close, but only those that support you should be allowed the closest. This way you protect yourself and ensure that you have the best circle surrounding you at all times.
