A habit is any action that you do repeatedly, and this can be a positive action like saying thank you or a bad one like cussing or biting your nails. Habit is also a word for the cloak or other types of clothing that a monk, nun, or other religious person wears. If you engage in bad habits like drinking, smoking, drugs, and other things then you are letting these negative actions put your health and even your life at risk.
Habit is thus the enormous flywheel of society, its most precious conservative agent. It alone is what keeps us all within the bounds of ordinance, and saves the children of fortune from the envious uprisings of the poor
