Anzac Day is held each year in remembrance of the  men and women who served in military combat and died as a result of their efforts. These individuals fought for their country and gave the ultimate sacrifice, and they are honored on this day in New Zealand and Australia. Anzac Day originated at the end of WWI but today this holiday is used in order to celebrate the contributions of all veterans who serve in the military and are killed because of their service. The date of Anzac Day is set on the anniversary of the very first WWI campaign which resulted in a large number of casualties from the fighting. The name of Anzac Day was derived from the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, or ANZAC, and this holiday is a big one that is widely celebrated in Australia and New Zealand.
