Dads in Mississippi welcome the magnet elementary students back on their first day with encouragement.

20 fathers greet the children at the Barack H. Obama Magnet Elementary. Parents have been a part of this tradition to welcome the kids on the first day of school for years.

It is to show that their dads care about them and has encouraged a great environment that helps the kids ease into their first day of school since they may be nervous.

WATCH D.O.G.S.  is the program that a lot of the dads are in, “a family and community engagement educational initiative” and to show positive male role models, while reducing bullying in the school.
