The word philosophy is used to describe an area of study, one that covers certain basic concepts which usually include things that can be fluid like truth, nature, and existence. In order to study philosophy you must understand that things may not always be exactly as they seem, and there are things in this world that have an impact even if they can not be seen, touched, or tasted. Some of the greatest thinkers from the past studied philosophy and were people who thought very deeply. Philosophy does not involve things that can be proven or concepts that are backed by solid science, it is a way of thinking about topics that require complex thought and reasoning instead. If you are interested in philosophy then you may want to start out with one or two college classes on this subject before you decide to make it your degree major.
