An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life. When you know someone is armed then you are less likely to get aggressive, act irrationally, or make idle threats because you realize that the consequences can be deadly. In America the second amendment gives citizens the right to bear arms and protect themselves and their property. The founding fathers included this right after the American Revolution to ensure that the citizens would never be defenseless against a tyrant or someone else out to do them harm. Cities with the most restrictive gun laws also tend to have higher rates of crime and there is a link between the two. In teh world today too many people react without thinking, quick to anger or feel slighted and vocal about how they feel. If everyone was armed this would change quickly and people would be more likely to think about what they say or do before doing it.
